I've got all the instruments (guitars, drums, midi/electric keyboard, and microphone but it's a cheap one) and a computer with windows xp media center and a built in mic, but I need to know what programs are out there for about 50 dollars that'll work on windows xp and let my band record and edit music easily. We also need some pointers on what microphones and other stuff we'll need for most rock type music. and remember, only windows stuff. we don't want to have to buy an imac or their version of xp just to run garageband. we can do that at one of our friends' houses when we record @ really good quality.

I want something with a large sound database, good for creating/editing electronic as well as recorded music. I've used Logic Pro a lot at school, and loved it. Alas, I graduated and don't have a Mac. Id like something with recording and MIDI (from electric keyboards and drums) with as minimal setup/extra equipment required as possible.

I'm only 14 and i'm in a band thats out to change the world. I feel that our music is getting somewhere, and I was wondering what would be the cheapest way to record and put together a cd would be?
I barely make any money and I cant afford some high dollar recording or studio equipment. So what would be the cheapest and easiest way to record and put together a cd on a budget?

Should I invest in a BC Rich as my first electric guitar, or maybe an ESP?
If anyone could recommend a good guitar that isn't too expensive, (It has to be under $450.) I would appreciate it.
I already own an acoustic guitar, but the closest I can get to playing metal with it is just tuning it to Drop D.
